Guiding Families Through Education, With Faith And Confidence

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? You’re in the right place. Browse through our FAQ to find answers quickly, or reach out to us directly if you need more details. At UMEI, we’re passionate about providing a learning environment where your child can thrive.

  • UMEI is a Christian high school where students are both challenged and supported. With smaller class sizes, strong relationships with teachers, enriched robotics and arts programming, daily extra-help opportunities, and a close-knit community, students are known personally and encouraged to grow in faith, confidence, character, and leadership.

  • Many students start UMEI without knowing anyone beforehand. Because of our smaller community, students quickly get to know classmates, teachers, and older students through classes, athletics, chapels, clubs, and school events. One of the things families tell us most often is how welcomed and included their child feels, and how they are happy going to school every day. Watch this video made by students to hear more about belonging at UMEI.

  • Yes. UMEI offers strong academics alongside personalized support. Students are prepared for university, college, trades, and the workforce through engaging classes, caring teachers, and opportunities in areas like robotics, arts, athletics, leadership, and technology. Our daily “Success Period” also gives students built-in access to extra help and academic support. 93% of our graduates say they were better prepared for university than their peers.  Watch this video to hear a graduate talk about how UMEI set her up for success.

  • UMEI offers learning support in a caring and relational environment. We work closely with families to understand each student’s strengths, challenges, and goals, and provide support through teacher relationships, accommodations, Success Period, and individualized planning when appropriate. We support students with IEP accommodations.

  • Students at UMEI are encouraged to get involved both inside and outside the classroom. Opportunities include athletics, robotics, drama, music, worship teams, leadership, school trips, clubs, community outreach, and student events. In a smaller school environment, students often have more opportunities to participate, lead, and try new things. Over 85% of our student body is involved in extracurricular activities.

  • As an independent Christian school, UMEI does not receive government funding and relies on tuition and community support to operate. We work hard to keep tuition as accessible as possible and offer payment plans and financial assistance for families who qualify. We are always happy to have a conversation about what options may be available. Click here to request more information on tuition.

  • The admissions process begins with inquiry – sending an email, scheduling a phone call, booking a visit, or attending an event to learn more about UMEI. Families can then submit an application, followed by a meeting with administration. Our goal is to make the process welcoming, personal, and supportive from start to finish. Click here to learn more about the process.
