Hi, I'm Nancy Loewen, UMEl's Head of Learning Support & Guidance Services. I have always been passionate about helping our students find success. In my role, I guide each student's academic and personal growth, skill development, and confidence.
At UMEl, our goal is to create the best possible learning environment so that, together with teacher encouragement & support, each student can reach their full potential.
Supporting Every Student’s Full Potential
UMEI strives to cultivate full potential in each student. To enhance our equitable and dynamic learning environment, the UMEI Learning Hub is a space designed for students who need extra time, support, and skill development. UMEI supports students with IEP accommodations by building strong relationships between teachers, parents, and students. We also provide enhanced Guidance support to students in all four grades as they choose courses that lead to post-secondary goals.
All teachers are available in their classrooms after school daily for extra help. Students can drop in regularly during this time period for personalized instruction, remediation, or other supports that are needed.

Teachers lead “booster sessions” to support study skills, communication, leadership, time management, and more. UMEI teachers are committed to developing the whole person and supporting every student’s success.
